You’ve heard the old adage, “stop and smell the roses,” well this is it! Mindfulness creates a small moment with a big impact on mental health. It draws the mind and body back to center on the present and enjoy any given moment of life.

Instead of re-posting content, here is the link to the page on MINDFULNESS. Mindfulness is the practice of disengaging from thoughts about the past or the future to dwell in the present. It helps to cultivate gratitude, be more aware of the little things in life, and to see things as they really are. It can also help edge thoughts away from worry or anxiety.
I also wanted to share the closely related content of self compassion. Self compassion is a much larger part of good mental health than society realizes. Kristen Neff is a leading researcher in the area of self compassion. She has several guided self compassion activities listed on her website.

Self compassion helps to break down the inner critic and allow a much larger level of happiness and love into your life.

“It may seem odd to think of having a relationship with ourselves, but we do. Some people can’t get along with themselves. They criticize and belittle themselves all day long until they begin to hate themselves. May I suggest that you reduce the rush and take a little extra time to get to know yourself better. Walk in nature, watch a sunrise, enjoy God’s creations…”
