Seattle is a temperate climate, so most folks do not have air conditioning. When it gets hot know what to do:
How to keep your home as cool as possible:
⦁ Keep curtains and blinds closed
⦁ Turn off lights in areas where practical
⦁ Keep windows closed where there is air-conditioning
⦁ Minimize use of heat-generating equipment
⦁ Make sure you stay hydrated.
⦁ Find the nearest cooling center, or visit somewhere air conditioned.

Summer often brings poor air quality from forest fire smoke. Have a N95 on hand. Obtaining N95 masks has been a lot easier since COVID-19.

If you have poor lung health or asthma, make sure to have extra inhaler(s) or other medications on hand.

Protect your skin from the sun – make sure you have some of the following in your home. Smaller travel sizes can be a good idea to stash in a 72 hr kit and/or the car.
- Sun block
- Chapstick
- Aloe Vera (sunburn treatment)
- Sunglasses
- Baseball or wide-brimmed hat
- Bug spray
