There are other opportunities and groups in the city to garden with, especially if you are waiting for a P-Patch plot. The City of Seattle has created the following LIST OF OPPORTUNITIES.

You can also consider growing a few plants at home. Here are two book recommendations if you feel the need for some knowledge before starting:

Book Recommendation: The Vegetable Gardner’s Container Bible by Edward C. Smith. Container gardens are feasible on many levels for city dwellers. It may just be a kitchen indoor herb garden, or planters on your balcony or windowsill. Either way, growing some of your own food will be instructive life experience, satisfying, and may even save you money.

Book Recommendation: Vertical Vegetables & Fruit: Create Gardening Techniques for Growing Up in Small Spaces by Rhonda M. Hart. Excellent ideas for those with small yard or balcony spaces to grow plants. The ideas here are also good for maximizing the use of a P-Patch plot.
